Rebuilding Haiti

“I’d like to go back to school.  I want to be a nurse and to help people like I’m being helped now.”

- Waline, 9

Waline will never forget the day the earthquake hit.

In mere minutes the disaster destroyed her home, her school and almost took her life.

Yet six months later, she has new hope thanks to gifts from CBM.

Nine-year-old Waline is only one, among more than a million people who are now living in the confines of makeshift tent cities after the earthquake levelled homes, schools, hospitals and vital infrastructure.

CBM knows that at least 100,000 of these people will be living with a disability.

Thanks to the swift and compassionate response made to CBM’s Haiti Earthquake Appeal, the most vulnerable have new hope through programs:

  • Medical care provided to relocation camps.
  • Remote disability clinics
  • Child care centre and educational programs for children with disabilities.
  • Advocacy to ensure accessible reconstruction of infrastructure.
  • Community based rehabilitation for the injured.
