How's your attitude?
Did you know that having a negative attitude can marginalise and exclude people with impairments from taking part in everyday activities?
Your attitude can cause disability.
People with disabilities find such attitudes can come from family, neighbours, communities, schools and employers.
Some of these attitudes include:
- Family members being over-protective of children with disabilities
- That people with impairments are somehow inferior
- Beliefs that an impairment is a punishment from God for a wrong committed
- Beliefs that the impairment is due to an evil spirit
CBM’s projects and programs work towards changing these attitudes so all children and adults with disabilities can have the same opportunities and rights as everyone else.
