Are you a good communicator?
Did you know that people with impairments often don't have the same access to information and communications as the general population?
By forgetting to take into consideration ALL people when producing communications, you may be disabling people.
This means they are left out or unable to make their best contributions to decision-making and community activities that directly affect them.
When development and aid organisations work towards alleviating poverty, care must be taken to cater for people with disabilities.
Examples of this include:
- Blind people who cannot read an educational poster about sanitation
- People with impairments who can’t walk to a town or village meeting to discuss where a well is going to be built
CBM works to enable access to information and to facilitate communication for people with disabilities so they can make informed choices.
