This document explores how CBM Global implementing partners, including OPDs, are responding to issues of gender-based violence in the communities in which they work, including what is working well and where more support is needed.
Interviews with 11 partners found:
- Women and girls with disabilities experience gender-based violence in multiple forms.
- Partners respond in various ways, including increasing awareness of women’s and disability rights, providing counselling and psychosocial support, referring women to support services, and helping women and girls with disabilities through the reporting process.
- Some good approaches include improving community awareness of women’s and disability rights, mapping and building strong relationships with other organisations, implementing strong safeguarding measures, working with OPDs, and improving women’s economic conditions.
- Key recommendations to further strengthen CBM Global and its partners approach to safeguarding and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse.
