Hi, I’m Jane Edge, the Chief Executive of CBM Australia

March eight marks International Women’s Day,

which is one of the most important moments

through which we can all raise awareness

about women’s equality.

This year’s theme is Cracking the code:

innovation and technology for gender equality.

This theme focuses on how technology and education

in the digital age can help empower women and girls

across the world.

Importantly, the Australian government

recently announced a new

international gender equality strategy.

CBM welcomes this commitment to foster equality

and create gender parity across all communities.

The reality is that hundreds of millions of women and girls

with disabilities face the triple disadvantage

of disability, gender inequality, and poverty.

We want to change this.

We all know how vital technology is in our daily lives.

Technology and education allow people with disabilities

to speak with their own voices

and play an active role in their communities.
